Pediatric Onco Surgery
Surgical Management of Childhood Tumors with Compassion and Expertise
Cancer in children is rare but serious — and requires prompt, precise, and compassionate care. At Sparsh Pediatric Surgical Clinic, we specialize in pediatric onco-surgery, offering advanced tumor removal, biopsies, and port insertions to support chemotherapy and treatment planning.
Our pediatric surgical oncologists work hand-in-hand with pediatric oncologists, radiologists, and intensivists to provide your child with comprehensive care from diagnosis to recovery.
Our Pediatric Onco-Surgical Approach
- Early diagnosis and staging using imaging and biopsy
- Surgical removal or reduction of tumors with precision
- Insertion of chemo-ports and catheters for long-term treatment
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary care with pediatric cancer specialists
Common Pediatric Cancers & Surgical Procedures We Handle
Many newborns may be born with congenital (birth) conditions that require urgent surgical intervention. These surgeries are often life-saving and aim to correct developmental abnormalities to give babies the best possible start in life.
A kidney tumor most often found in children under 5 years. Surgery to remove the affected kidney is often the first or key part of treatment.
A rare liver cancer in infants and toddlers. Surgical removal of the liver tumor, followed by chemotherapy, offers a high survival rate when detected early.
A tumor arising from nerve tissue, often near the spine or adrenal glands. Surgery is used to remove as much of the tumor as possible, often combined with chemo/radiotherapy.
Benign or malignant tumors made of multiple tissue types — often found in the tailbone area (sacrococcygeal) or abdomen. Surgery ensures complete removal and histological assessment.
A rare soft tissue cancer affecting muscles and surrounding tissues. Surgery is part of a combined approach with chemo/radiation depending on tumor location.
We also manage rare and less common childhood cancers such as:
- Germ cell tumors
- Ovarian tumors
- Adrenal tumors
- Lymph node enlargements
Each case is assessed individually with customized surgical plans.
When diagnosis is unclear, a biopsy helps confirm the tumor type. We perform minimally invasive biopsies under anesthesia for accurate, painless diagnosis.
Used for children needing long-term chemotherapy. This central line allows medications and fluids to be given safely and repeatedly.
An implanted port under the skin that connects to a vein, making chemo sessions easier and reducing discomfort for the child.
